8BIT Boxer

Your webcam is the controller. Sixty seconds on a heavy bag.

8BIT Boxer is a pixel-art boxing game played with a laptop webcam: sixty seconds to land as many punches as you can on a heavy bag.

The camera is processed on-device; nothing is uploaded.

A round in progress: the heavy bag with its target marker, the two tracked gloves, and the round HUD.
A round in progress: the bag, the target marker, and the two gloves the webcam is tracking.

The interaction

The distance between you and the game is the camera.

Your hands are the two gloves on screen. Move them and they move; the round timer starts at sixty seconds and the HUD keeps score, combo and multiplier.

There is nothing else to learn.

The visual system

The whole game is drawn in one pixel grammar.

The gym, the bag, the sign boards and the spectators are pixel art at one scale, with a HUD that looks like it belongs to the same machine: score, timer, combo, and a marker on the bag to aim at.

The game's title screen: the pixel-art ring with the heavy bag, the two boxers, and the round menu over it.
A demo round in progress, played from the keyboard: the bag under the round timer, both gloves reaching it, and the score and combo HUD.

Implementation

The camera never leaves the machine.

Frame processing happens in the browser, so play works without uploading anything; the demo is playable directly in a browser tab.

There is no player research behind this, and the demo needs a webcam and a browser that grants camera access.
